Earthbeats is the brainchild of Dutch drummer, percussionist, and producer Timothy van der Holst. The album Moved by the Drum was recorded between 2000 and 2001 by Govert van der Kolm and was physically released in 2001 in very limited numbers. It features 12 tracks, all composed and performed by Timothy, inspired by his travels in the early 1990s to Ghana, Nepal, and Turkey. The traditional rhythms he encountered during these journeys profoundly shaped the album’s sound.
Every instrument featured on the recordings was personally acquired by Timothy during his visits to these countries and brought back home, lending an authentic and deeply personal touch to the music. Mixed and produced by Timothy van der Holst, the album is a testament to his artistic vision and dedication.
Now, 25 years later, Moved by the Drum has been digitally re-released on all major streaming platforms. No longer reserved for the lucky few who owned the original release, the album is now accessible for everyone to enjoy. It can also be purchased as a digital download.
